Green Slab - A growing City

The idea was that when you start off building you might build a small house at first, then as you get older and imagine more things and get more creative, you expand the complexity of your buildings. I wanted to simulate this notion with real life footage. I will take footage of both rural and urban environments to try and put this idea of a city landscape growing.

Idea - Adding a Narrative

Ok so i know i want to do a tilt shift video however I wanted to give the video some sort of loose narrative so people could connect with it. at a field of grass reminded me of that great slab of green Lego you always used as the base. This got me thinking about this idea of building up; something starting small and growing, so the idea was to have a the video start in a field and end with a built up city, it was meant to echo the idea of Lego and the child’s imagination growing, and ideas getting bigger.

time lapse video

A crucial part that makes the miniature effect is the time lapse effect, if i am to do i would need to record a scene for a prolonged period of time so I could then speed up the footage in post.

Tilt Shift Videos

I've known about this technique for a while and have become really fascinated by it. The way the blur around the edges and the speeded up footage fools the viewer eye in to believing they are watching a model town, or miniature object, when in fact its real life.

I really like this technique and i think it could work well with lego e.g. building towns etc

Legoland

When i looked at pictures of legoland, it gave me the idea of playing on the miniature city idea, could i do this in really life somehow.

A town called Panic!

I really like the style of this film, the way it uses lots of toy figures. Although its not lego i really intrigued by the movement, it's fast and jumpy, something i think would appeal to the younger auidence, could i do something in real life to emulate this kind of movement.
